The edge of fashion meets the heart of Columbus at our 4th Annual Spring Luncheon & Style Show on Saturday, April 24th, 2010. Once again we will be returning to the Worthington Hills Country Club.

In addition to our style show we are excited to have as our special guest Miss Ohio 2009, Erica Gelhaus. Her platform as Miss Ohio is titled “Turning A Page For Children’s Literacy”. Her focus on literacy grew out of her own passion for reading. While volunteering at her local library she saw first hand the importance of changing a child’s perspective on reading. From this and her sister’s struggle with reading, Erica was inspired to found a reading program known as Athletes Promoting Excellence. She also volunteers with Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s Reach Out and Read Program.

Erica will share stories about her time as Ms Ohio as well as her experiences as a literacy advocate. In addition, we are delighted that she will entertain us with a brief musical selection.

As a senior at Otterbein College she is pursuing a degree in Music-Vocal Performance and a minor in Arts Administration. She is proud to be the first person in her family to graduate college.

The luncheon program will run from 11:30am till 2:30pm. Tickets are $25 per person or $200 for a table. Sponsorship opportunities are available. For tickets or to donate a silent auction or door prize raffle item, contact our office at (614) 252-3132 x250.

In addition, we’ve decided to arrange our classes in a three-course sequence to give our students a stronger understanding of the computer program.

Introductory: Computer/Internet Basics (4hrs), Word I (12hrs) and Excel I (12hrs)

Advanced: Word II (12hrs), Excel II (12hrs) and Publisher (12hrs)

Supplemental: Access (12hrs), PowerPoint (12hrs), and Keyboarding/Typing (8hrs)

The first and second track will be offered continuously throughout the year while classes in the third group will only be offered upon request. Please let Jeri know if you would like us to schedule a Access, Powerpoint or Keyboarding class. Once we get at least four student’s interested in the class, we will add it to the schedule.

We’ve are also working on standardizing the content of our classes to allow students who miss a class to only have to retake that particular class and not the complete course again to get the completion certificate.
