GED Classes
The St John Learning Center is a site for free GED Classes that are offered through the Columbus Public Schools’ Adult & Community Education Program. Before you can started to take the GED classes, you must go through an assessment to see what subjects you need to study to successfully take the GED Test.

Please tell you would like to take the classes at the St John Learning Center. Our classes are offered from 9:30am to 12:00pm Monday through Thursday. Level I students meet on Mondays & Wednesdays and Level II students meet on Tuesdays & Thursdays. We do offer limited free child care for those parents who are unable to make other arrangements. This is on a first-come, first-served basis and you must call us to make sure we have space available. As this is limited please try to make other arrangements for your children during class time.
Information about the GED Program
The GED Test provides Ohio residents who did not fishing high school the opportunity to earn a GED. Like a high school diploma, the GED diploma enables the holder the opportunity to obtain employment, to apply for career advancement, to pursue higher education, or to reach a personal goal. The GED Test measures your knowledge and academic skills against those of today’s traditional high school graduates.
The official GED Test includes the following subject areas:
- Language Arts, Writing (50 Multiple Choice Questions & Essay)
- Language Arts, Reading (40 Multiple Choice Questions)
- Science (50 Multiple Choice Questions)
- Social Studies (50 Multiple Choice Questions)
- Mathematics (50 Multiple Choice Questions)
Who is eligible to take the test?
You must be at least 19 years of age to take the test. If you are between the ages of 16-19, you must contact your local school district’s superintendent’s office.
How much does the GED Test cost to take?
The test costs $55 unless you have taken and passed the Official GED Practice Test. Individuals who pass the practice test are issued a fee waiver.
